Plage de Sainte Croix

Visiting the Provence means you have to make a tour to one of the beautiful beaches along the Côte Bleue. A perfect and stunning beach for kids is Plage de Sainte Croix in Martigues.

Sooo pretty!

Just like the whole Côte Bleue, Plage de Sainte Croix is blessed with the breathtaking azure blue seawater. Oooh, every time I dip in I am so stunned by the colors and the fact that I can see the seabed beneath me. The thing that makes Plage de Sainte Croix so great for children, is the fact that it has white sand. A lot of beaches around have got a rocky structure. For kids it is so nice to be able to play with the sand and build castles. Throwing balls and playing beachball is also so much nicer in sand than on rocky structures, ouch! During summer months the sand can be very hot though, so water shoes are no luxury here.

Just like me you must be already packed with everything you want to bring to the beach. Plus you are with your kid, it’s hot and that is why you don’t wish to walk for miles and miles. Plage de Sainte Croix has a big paid parking, called tada, Parking de la Plage de Sainte Croix. From there it is just a small walk towards the stairway to heaven… eh the beach. The beautiful site is even more romantic with its little chapel on top of the cliff, la Chapelle de Sainte Croix.

This is a definitely a perfect and stunning beach for kids, but it can be crowded. You could walk 2 minutes further along the path and end up at the very pretty Plage de la Saulce. During summertimes both are surveilled.

Essential cooling down

When it’s time for cold beverages or ice creams, you can just walk back towards the parking and you will spot the tiny Proxi shop with packed ice creams. Or you could go for the more fancy Les Ombrelles with it’s ‘boules de glace’ and its restaurant.
