Forêt des cèdres, Bonnieux
Let me take you to la Forêt des Cèdres, a beautiful kid-friendly forest in the Luberon. The Luberon is a gorgeous green mountain range near Aix-en-Provence and houses several of the most charming villages of France. After having had food truck bio crêpes for lunch and delicious ice cream as a dessert in Apt, you would say that the day couldn’t get better.
The road towards the forest was already breathtaking, oooh, the views… If you have the chance, I’d recommend to take a stroll through Bonnieux as well. But, I was talking about the forest. There are 4 routes you could take, all are well marked. We took the shortest, which was also stroller and wheelchair friendly. The path took us along impressive big trees, that were not only to look at but also to (YES!!!) climb in. From the first climb we just kept searching for other trees to climb in. Don’t know about yours, but my kids are crazy for it. Just as for building dens, which was a piece of cake with all these perfect branches laying around.
During the trail, we walked along some educational information signs in French and in braille. It is so nice to be informed so you have some clever things to pass on to your child. To top off this already great walk, we spotted a mini-labyrinth. Cute effort.
We were truly surprised by the easy and fun walk through this forest, that we ended up at the parking with the idea we could have walked further. So next time we will go for the trail that leads us to a magnificent viewing point. The Luberon is just so pretty. There are no restaurants nearby, so it is a bring-your-own activity on which you can find a spot on the grass or on a tree trunk. Find more info here.
