Picnic Château Gassier
Sometimes you just have to extend the idea of kid-friendly activities, also to make yourself very happy. And a happy you is always a good idea for the whole family! So what would you think of a picnic with kids on a vineyard? The vineyard I would like to suggest you is Château Gassier in Puyloubier, a village near Aix-en-Provence. The château is situated in a beautiful surrounding, right on the foot of the Sainte-Victoire mountain. Picture acres of vines and the impressive mountain range and you must be as enthusiastic as me. On top of that the vineyard organises several cute events, like an outdoor cinema or an astronomic…

Aqueduc de Roquefavour
On our way to school we always spot a glance of the impressive Aqueduc de Roquefavour. It is situated in Ventabren, a village near Aix-en-Provence. This aqueduct was build in 1847 as part of the Canal de Marseille to bring water from La Durance to Marseille. The engineers were inspired by the antique and famous Pont du Gard, also a place I tend to write you about. Aqueduc de Roquefavour is still used to supply Marseille with water. My kids and I really wanted to have a closer look, so we found a kid-friendly hike towards Aqueduc de Roquefavour. Once you search online, you could find several trails that include…

Lac de Peyrolles
As a proud resident of the Provence, I really love the sun and the massive amount of sunny days. However, the summers in the Provence can be very hot. My kids love the sun as well, but sometimes we can’t take the heat anymore. Yes, we are spoiled brats, I know. I have the perfect cooling get-away for you, including playgrounds and a swimming lake. And near Aix-en-Provence. Lac de Peyrolles is a great kid-friendly place to spend your entire day. Only from July to August you pay a fee to park your car, besides these months this even is a free escape! And what do you get? An azur…

Sports park Venelles
One of the pretty communities of Aix-en-Provence is Venelles. Just outside of the village there is a huge park with all kinds of sports facilities, Parc de Sports Maurice Daugé. The park is located in a forest environment, on top of a hill. I could really recommend to visit this kid-friendly sports park. One of the interesting places here is the swimming pool, Le centre aquatique Sainte-Victoire. It is a large and modern swimming pool, which is already great to go to with kids. But the best thing is outside: a water splashing playground. Can’t wait until summer! Well, and for it to open without any restrictions. To keep things…

Crêpes à gogo, Aix
One of the famous French specialties are ‘crêpes’. Where I come from we eat pancakes, the more thick version and often with stuff in the batter. In my opinion crêpes are a more sophisticated version, though of course no way healthier :-D. Anyway, I think my kids and I could eat crêpes on every moment of the day: as breakfast, lunch, goûter… There is almost no more favorite meal for kids I believe. In the centre of Aix-en-Provence you can find a great spot for crêpes with kids that I would like to suggest. It is called Crêpes à gogo and is located in an, yes, underground corridor. Sounds a…

Maison Nosh, Aix
Although Maison Nosh doesn’t have kids as their target audience, this coffee bar/brunch/lunch cafe is very suitable to take your mini to. It is definitely a good kid-friendly spot for healthy food in Aix-en-Provence. With a lot of students chatting about student things (I AM OLD!), nobody cares whether your kid makes more noise then usual. They have a very creative menu with a lot of healthy products and bio drinks. The tasteful meals and bakings Maison Nosh offers are all produced in an eco-responsable way. That makes the offer way better than the standard ‘menu d’enfant’ with French fries and a ‘steak hachee’. They have just moved to another…

Playground Aix-en-Provence
Parc de la Torse Looking for a playground in Aix-en-Provence, just outside the centre? Parc de la Torse is beautiful green parc in Eastern Aix with two small gated playgrounds. One more for the little ones, the other more for kids till around 8 years old. There are long paths to cycle and scooter on, the park is very suitable for playing ball or enjoying picnics (and apéros ;-). Parc Jourdan Quite close to the famous Cours Mirabeau in the heart of Aix-en-Provence you find this pretty city park. The park has a gated playground with some nice play objects, like a plane for example. You can definitely bring a…

Playground Eguilles
The charming uphill town Eguilles has a fun playground, next to the ‘Ecole Élementaire Publique du Cros’. If you are already around and your kid wants to move, you could have a good stop here. The playground is not perse big, but diverse enough. The playground has for instance a climbing pyramid for those who want to train their climbing skills. For the smaller kids there is a wooden train and some seesaw objects. There is also a wooden castle with a slide that, my kids their favorite, has a fire pole. Fireman Sam can shake it… Sporty and older kids can have a go in the soccer court and…

Dinosaur’Istres
Here is one great activity for the whole family! This kid-friendly dinosaur park in Istres is big fun for your kid, is super educational (including for this mum) and is even for free. And open despite sanitary restrictions. Go go go! Dinosaur’Istres is a park on a hill where you can walk a trail from 3km, here you come across all kinds of real size dinosaurs like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Velociraptors. Remember that kitchen scene in the Jurassic Park movie? Iiiihks, well I definitely did remember while seeing some of those species. With every species comes an explanation, though in French. The trail was just perfect for my 4…
