Fun workshops for adults
One thing I have loved to learn living in France as an expat, is the commitment within the French culture to share the knowledge of le ‘savoir-faire’. I think I could translate it into craft. This ‘savoir-faire’ (I will keep using this word as I think it’s beautiful and covers the French efforts best), can be expressed into all different kinds of workshops. And the best thing is: you can sign up for these fun workshops for adults in and around Aix-en-Provence. In this article I give you a little list of my and my friends’ favorite fun workshops for adults that you yourself can follow. Just a little note:…

Family and corporate photography
At the school of my kids, I got the chance to meet the ever so cheerful Camille. Originally from Belgium, she moved to New York City and worked there as a Human Rights Lawyer. She got three daughters and made a very creative career move: she became a photographer and started her business as Camille CD Photography. She had lots of success in high end portrait, family and corporate photography in the Big Apple. Camille belonged to the best portrait photographers when working in New York. Then life brought her family to the Provence, it is in Cabriès close to Aix-en-Provence and Marseille where she created her new studio. My…

Aix-en-Provence centre
Well, I am no star in just randomly visiting a city. Lucky you! While living in Aix-en-Provence, I am able to share with you some nice activities with kids in Aix-en-Provence. Finding some kid-friendly spots in town can make your visit even more pleasant. It is good to know that Aix has quite a compact city centre, which makes it do-able to explore the city by foot (and stroller). Wandering through town On the website of the Tourism Office you find a sweet brochure for kids from 4, 5 years old that guides you on a petit treasure hunt through town. With the nickname ‘city of fountains’, you can expect…

Glacier Loucau, Puyricard
In the middle of the ‘campagne aixios’, the rural area of Aix-en-Provence, a wonderful place opened its doors. It’s the ice-cream shop Loucau with the most delicious ice-cream around Aix. Loucau is situated in the vineyards of the cute village Puyricard. Loucau is started by a lovely couple with a dream. Their dream has now become our dreamy love spot. From a transformed container the couple serves truly the best ice-cream around Aix. We have tried their vanilla, kiwi, lemon, strawberry and pistachio flavors and they all tasted so good. Both my kids and I are very experienced ice-cream lovers so without being modest I can say that this means…

Wanted Burger
Just a few minutes from where we live, we discovered a great outdoor family restaurant. This treasure is called Wanted Burger, situated in the ‘campagne’ (countryside) of Aix-en-Provence. The restaurant is actually an old bus, that is transformed in a kitchen and even a few indoor seats. You would actually want to sit outside, I will tell you why. Le food Your child will love this place, and so will you! Wanted Burger serves, what’s in a name, delicious hamburgers in a wide variety of styles. Like the Sheriff Burger for instance, or a vegetarian version. The fries are home made, so does that make them a slightly bit healthier?…

Planetarium Peiresc
Next to the nice Parc Saint Mitre you can find the Planetarium of Aix-en-Provence. Planetarium Peiresc is not an observatory, but more a pedagogic place where kids can learn all about stars, planets and satellites. Due to our experience, I would really recommend you to visit this kid-friendly planetarium. On Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as during kids holidays, the planetarium organizes workshops adapted to kids. There are even workshops created for different age groups. We visited a special about ‘robots in space’, where we were explained not only about satellites, but we also got an explanation about the stars around us from the perspective of Aix-en-Provence. The very enthusiastic…

CIAM, Aix
Let me tell you about one of the most special places in town. CIAM, Centre International des Arts et Mouvements, is a wonderful acrobatic circus in Aix-en-Provence. This cool place is located just outside of Aix and is an enchanting, cheerful place for both adults and kids. In wintertime my kids had a week of circus ‘stage’. In a real circus tent they learned all kinds of acrobatics from kind teachers. My children never got back from sports this happy! Festival CIAM has so much to offer. It is a very creative spot where lots of fun things are happening. In summertime the festival Jours (et nuits) de Cirque(s) take…
