Halloween & Toussaint 2025
It’s time for Halloween! Back where I’m from we don’t really celebrate it, but here in the Provence I notice a lot of fun Halloween activities for kids.
My kids can dress up the last day of school before the Toussaint holiday begins. We have had the infamous Elsa dress, a no-I-don’t-want-to-dress-up Halloween, a fireman, an Avenger. And last year my daughter finally wanted to dress up scary, as a witch. If you are still in need for a Halloween outfit, try a secondhand one from Leboncoin, check Action in Cabriès for bargains or Fêter et Recevoir in Aix Les Milles for serious costumes. At the latter you will succeed for sure, they have EVERYTHING. For some beautiful Halloween accessories you can also go to the pretty kids stores Le Petit Souk or Louve.
Now you’ve got the outfit, you would like to exploit it too. Here is a list of some events related to Halloween around Aix-en-Provence. Please let me know if I you want me to add a fun event to the list.
Grimmland
Only 25 minutes away from Aix is the cute theme parc Grimmland. My kids and I are very fond of Grimmland, because it is not too big and not too small. Just of a perfect size for a day trip with young kids (so under 12 I’d think). They put in an extra effort around Halloween. In the Toussaint holiday Grimmland is transformed into Hallogrimm. Lovely spooky!
Other fun parks to visit that transform in Halloween style, are Le Bois des Lutins in Peypin, Village des Automates in Saint-Cannat and OK-Corral in Cuges-les-Pins.

Halloween night in town
As Halloween is becoming more and more popular, lots of villages organise a Halloween night. Here are some examples of such a scary celebration:
- Aix-en-Provence: Tuesday 31st of October, 18-20 o’clock, Soirée d’Halloween ‘La Bastide Hantée Disney Horror, at CSC La Grande Bastide. More info to be found here.
- Venelles: Saturday 28th of October, 14-16 o’clock, La balise des monstres, ALSH L’Oustau (Parc des Sports). Only for kids from Venelles and reservation is required. Click on the link for more info.
- Saint-Rémy de Provence: Tuesday 31st of October, from 17:30 kids and parents are welcomed on the Town Hall square with lanterns for a fun and scary parade. More info on the website of the tourism office.
- Fuveau: Tuesday the 31st and Wednesday the 1st of November at 18:45 and 20:00 o’clock the Petit Train d’Halloween will depart from the Musée Provençal des Transports de la Barque in Fuveau. Reservations have to be made through this site.
- Lourmarin: From Saturday the 28th until Tuesday the 31st the beautiful Château de Lourmarin transforms into the Château Hanté (the haunted castle). Come disguised! More info on the website of the Luberon Tourism Office.
- Cucuron: Tuesday the 31st of October from 15 o’clock, the Comité des Fêtes welcomes families in costumes to celebrate this fest around the little pond in the village. Kids can decorate pumpkins and there will be a parade with torches. Find the info here.
- Les Pennes Mirabeau: thanks to Noora I heard about this event. She and her kids are enthousiastic frequent visitors. On Saturday the 21st of October this village will celebrate the ‘Fête des Sorcières’, party of the witches. You come all dressed up of course, pay a small entrance fee and there are all kinds of animations for kids.
Halloween stages/ camps
During the holidays French kids often participate in a ‘stage’, which is a camp. This could be a one day activity, or it could be a one week thing. Here are two fun Halloween style camps for your kids:
- From the 27th till the 31st of October, Les petits bilangues in Aix-en-Provence organises a spooky and fun Halloween-themed language camp.
- Both weeks of the holidays kids can come and sport at Multikids in Puyricard. Greg (my tennis teacher!) and his team do all sorts of sports and games with the kids, this time it’s all covered in a Halloween theme. There will be a zombie run, something with witches and pumpkins, a tournament ‘Monsters against Ghosts and a Halloween party. I wish I could join! This is the place to subscribe. The camps at Multikids are French spoken, but from my own experience I know that there are often many Anglophone kids that participate. So it’s an easy way to adapt a bit if your kid doesn’t speak French (yet).
Fête de la courge, Rognes
On the last day of the Toussaint holiday, the pretty little village Rognes organizes her yearly fête de la courge. This year it will be on Sunday the 2th of November, from 8:30 till 17:00. This pumpkin party is especially interesting because of its cute market full of pumpkins and other gastronomic autumn products. I wouldn’t say this is going to be your highlight of the holidays, but if you just don’t know what to do with your kids this Sunday it is a jolly destination. There is also a 12km walk through the beautiful Rognes with its autumn colors, but I could definitely not sell that to my kids yet. More info to find here. Wouldn’t it be a relaxing way to end your holidays full of fun Halloween activities for kids, with this jovial fête de la courge?

Theatre
During the Toussaint holidays there are many fun theatre shows for kids, several with a touch of Halloween. How cool to be doing this together! Of course the shows are in French, but it might be a nice way to get into the language.
Boud le petit fantôme qui avait peur de tout
If you are not claustrophobic, than you might think that the little theatre Le Flibustier in the centre of Aix is très romantique. It’s a tiny theatre located in an ancient basement and from 27th of October to the 2nd of November kids from 1 year old are welcomed to watched this puppet show. More info on the website of the theatre. For more shows with a Halloween theme in this theatre, check out this link.
Bouhhh, Comédie d’Aix
From Saturday the 22nd of October until the 1st of November you can visit the Halloween show Bouhhh in the theatre of Comedie de Marseille. Kids from 3 years and older are welcome to take a seat on the red pluche and enjoy the (French) story.
La petite sorcière et Chocottes et chamallows, La Fontaine d’Argent Aix
In the days between the 18th and 26th of October the (French) kids show La Petite Sorcière will be live in the theatre La Fontaine d’Argent in Aix-en-Provence. It promises to be a funny show for the whole family within the theme of Halloween. On the 29th and 31st of October and the 1st of November there will be a show for the little ones named Chocottes et chamallows.
Sweet workshop
When in France, why not do a ‘gourmand’ workshop? This year in October, kids can make a chocolate clock at the most delicious chocolate factory of Puyricard. Well, after last year’s graveyards and pumpkins, the Halloween theme is a bit further away, but still it is a fun thing to do!
Rocher Mistral
The castle of La Barben, next to Zoo la Barben, is transformed into a medieval live show theatre. I don’t really know how to describe it better. If you and your kid like things to get a bit scary, then Rocher Mistral is a great place to visit around Halloween. Regardless the season, the setting is already spooky with impressive scenes and dead serious actors. Rocher Mistral is open until the 6th of November.
