Playground Vitrolles
Between Aix-en-Provence and the airport Marignane lies Vitrolles. The village is especially known for its yellow and blue Swedish shop. Who knew that it would offer a great playground too (and I don’t mean Småland)? Thanks to a good hint we visited Parc du Griffon and I am happy to share this huge playground with natural elements. What an amazing kid-friendly park!
My kids were sold when they encountered the huge wooden griffin that embraces two large slides. These were by far the largest we experienced in a free public playground. It was touching to see a big smile on literally every kid’s face that came down, again and again and again. And again. Us parents could just sit on the rocks across and keeping one eye on the slides and one eye in our books. Fantastic! Besides, that was just a fine place for our picnic as well (sandwiches bought at a famous French sandwichshop nearby).
Parc du Griffon holds even more fun. There are in total 5 playing area’s, next to a cable track and a rope bridge. Kids of all ages can have a great time here. Plus, for the sporty ones among us, there are two places to practice fitness. That could make a day in the parc with the whole family an efficient sporty one too. Well, we didn’t sport, but eh.. we could have. The parc has a big parking place as well as an automatic (paid) toilet. Stroller friendly! Great playground with natural elements, where you could also play a ‘parcours d’orientation’ (in French). If you are up for it, you find the different tracks here.

Sounds like a fun outing! What is the name of the sandwich shop?

Hi Charles, yes it sure is a fun outing with kids! The sandwich shop I refer to is PAUL, a short drive away from the park. Hopefully you can enjoy this playground AND your sandwich soon!
